Investment Policy
The Fund has a policy to invest in or hold units of foreign collective investment schemes (the “Underlying Funds”), including CIS units and/or Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), with investments allocated to at least two underlying funds. On average during an accounting year, the Fund will invest not less than 80% of its net asset value (NAV) in such Underlying Funds.
The Underlying Funds invest in equity securities of companies that are domiciled in, or principally conduct their business in, the People’s Republic of China. The Fund’s investment in each Underlying Fund will, on average during an accounting year, not exceed 79% of the Fund’s net asset value. The Fund will invest in foreign assets, resulting in a net exposure to foreign investment risk averaging not less than 80% of its net asset value during an accounting year, or such other proportion as may be prescribed by the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The foreign funds or the Underlying Funds may invest in derivatives for Efficient Portfolio Management and/or Hedging purposes.
The remaining portion of the Fund’s assets may be invested, both domestically and internationally, in deposit-like instruments, deposits, debt instruments, equity securities, hybrid securities, warrants, as well as other securities and/or assets, or seek returns through other means as specified in the Fund Scheme and/or as prescribed or approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission or the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The Fund may invest in derivatives for Efficient Portfolio Management and/or Hedging against Foreign Exchange Rate Risk at the discretion of the Fund Manager. Such discretion will be exercised based on prevailing financial market conditions and other relevant factors, including economic, political, monetary and fiscal conditions, in assessing the expected direction of currency movements.
Where the Fund Manager anticipates that the U.S. Dollar (USD) is likely to depreciate, the Fund may undertake foreign exchange hedging transactions to a relatively significant extent. Conversely, where the U.S. Dollar (USD) is expected to appreciate, the Fund Manager may elect not to hedge foreign exchange risk or may hedge only a limited portion of the Fund’s foreign currency exposure. However, if the Fund Manager determines that foreign exchange hedging may not be in the best interests of unitholders or may deprive unitholders of potential benefits, the Fund may choose not to hedge such risk. Investors should note that the costs associated with foreign exchange hedging transactions may reduce the Fund’s overall returns.
In addition, the Fund may invest in or hold Structured Notes, Non-Investment Grade debt securities, Unrated debt securities, and Unlisted Securities. The Fund may also engage in securities lending transactions, reverse repurchase transactions (Reverse Repo), and/or invest in other assets or seek returns through other means as specified in the Fund Scheme and/or as prescribed or approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission or the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
